她也說，民進黨長期以來與勞工是比較接近的；政府的存在就是要照顧弱勢，「或許有時候我們沒有注意到，沒有充分感受到，但千萬不要懷疑我們的誠意，不要懷疑我們對台灣的這份責任感，街頭抗議我可以接受，至少你們提醒我們有些事要坐下來好好談一談」。

蔡英文幕僚林萬億會後指出，民進黨答應，國定假日應全國一致，不分各種職業；要真正落實周休二日，必須修勞基法，同時落實勞動檢查；蔡英文會中強調，制度的改變，必須達到降低工時，又不降低應得的薪資保障。

蔡英文提到，國道收費員畢竟是政府應該要扛起的責任，政府必須要求企業扛起這個責任，這件事要積極處理，沒有理由讓國道收費員自己抗爭這麼久；過去民進黨不是執政者，可以做的比較有限，希望1月16日讓她有做更多事情的機會。
